Dr. Spencer Krane

New intake with Dr. Spencer Krane went great! He took the time to listen to me and come up with a plan that makes sense. It's nice when you find a physician that fits. Thanks!

Low Testosterone (T)

Low Testosterone

Women experience menopause and men also have a fall in their testosterone the male hormone produced in the testicles, also decreases a small amount after age 30 but becomes symptomatic around age 50.  The problem affects millions of American men who have decreased sex drive, lethargy, loss of muscle mass, decrease in bone density, and even irritability and depression. The diagnosis is easily made and help is available to nearly all men who suffer from low “T” levels.

The most common urologic procedure is vasectomy or male sterilization which is performed on over 500,000 men every year.  We offer the no-scalpel, no-needle technique which causes little pain and discomfort, almost no bleeding, and can be done in the office in an outpatient setting in minutes.

Enlarged Prostate Gland (T)

Enlarged Prostate Gland

Benign enlargement of the prostate gland affects nearly 35 million American men.  In the past the procedure of choice was a surgical procedure, transurethral resection of the prostate gland, which is often referred to as the rotor router procedure.  Now a new first line treatment is the prostate urethral lift, or PUL. Please contact us if you would like more information on this procedure and you can receive a DVD and more material that explains this effective treatment option.

Erectile Dysfunction (ED) Impotence

Erectile Dysfunction

ED affects more than 30 million American men….and also a problem that affects their partners.  ED is a common problem in men with diabetes, high blood pressure, and a side effect of hundreds of medications.  Men can easily be evaluated in the outpatient setting and can often receive treatment on the first visit to the office.  For men who have tried Viagra, Levitra, or Cialis but did not receive the results they were looking for, they need to know that there are other treatment options.  My message to you is that men who have ED do not need to suffer the “tragedy of the bedroom”.  Help is available for nearly every man.

Prostate Cancer

Prostate Cancer

Prostate cancer is the most common malignancy afflicting the United States male population. The key to optimum management is early diagnosis. Tulane Urology team members will provide you with the information for, not only a comprehensive screening, but aloes a state-of-the-art genomic testing needed to determine the aggressiveness of patients’ s prostate cancer.  The Tulane Urology team is experienced in the management of any stage of prostate cancer. and has pioneered cutting edge procedures, such as robotic prostatectomy.

Kidney Cancer

Kidney Cancer

The incidence of kidney cancer has been increasing, mainly because of the proliferation of imaging studies such as CT scans and MRI.  A seismic shift in the management of kidney tumors has been the use of robotic surgery to remove the kidney tumor and save as much of the kidney as possible. This is clearly an international change in thinking over the past few years. Tulane Urology has pioneered this procedure in the Gulf South, especially by using the unique retroperitoneal approach.

Kidney Stones

Kidney Stones

Kidney stones (renal lithiasis, nephrolithiasis) are small, hard mineral deposits that form inside your kidneys. The stones are made of mineral and acid salts. Kidney stones have many causes and can affect any part of your urinary tract — from your kidneys to your bladder. Often, stones form when the urine becomes concentrated, allowing minerals to crystallize and stick together. Passing kidney stones can be quite painful, but the stones usually cause no permanent damage, unless left untreated.
